A Personal Plea: Help Fix my Home

About 12 years ago I found a boat called Mai Kai and bought her at Pier 39. Through a series of events I ended up living on her, and she is my primary residence now. I've put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into restoring her slowly.

Today, my boat’s rudder post started leaking and my ship may sink, leaving me homeless. It is letting in water at the rate of 10 gallons an hour. I’m using the boat’s bilge pump system to slow down the leak but the boat may still sink if the pump fails.

To fix my boat I need to haul her out to the Berkeley Marine Center for repairs ASAP where she will be checked for problems, and have preventive maintenance done. When this sort of thing is said about a boat, that means "expensive".

I'm setting up this GoFundMe for about half of the estimates I got before this emergency happened, so this number might be even higher. I'll keep everyone updated here with pictures and video - I will have to do a lot of work myself, so I'll have some time-lapses to share I am sure.

Thank you for visiting, and if you are in San Francisco we'll definitely go sailing once all this is fixed!

Please help if you can by joining the GoFundMe at https://www.gofundme.com/f/repair-the-mai-kai
